This is a question I get asked by every client when we get to the stage where I need them to provide me with images for the website I’m building for them. I ask the client to provide me with ‘alt’ tags for the images and they usually ask “why do I need to do that”? The ‘alt’ tag is an abbreviation of ‘alternative’ description and relates to accessibility.
