First Social Media Huddle at Corby Enterprise Centre

Share

Having arranged the first social media huddle to take place in the Corby Enterprise Centre Pod, the small circular meeting place in the centre of the Foyer, it really did turn into a huddle with 9 of us. I wasn’t sure whether it would turn into a social media support group or a social media self-help group.  I think it ended up being a bit of one and some of the other too!

Having done quick introductions it was a free for all conversation ranging from individual experiences of using social media, trying to use social media and  justifying avoiding using social media. Underpinning it all was consideration of the pros and cons of using  social media for business.

There were some interesting opinions expressed, but all with good humour and only the slightest threat of social media detractors being ‘huddled’ into submission! Yes, most of the group were ‘for it’ but all felt they needed help with understanding how to use it.

Kathleen, second from left, was one person who admitted she’d tried to avoid ‘getting into’ social media for some time, but had realised it’s now a case of get into it or get left behind by your competitors.

Food for thought there.

By the next meeting, date to be set sometime in February, the group decided they would aim to at least have an account set up on Twitter, which was identified by them as being the simplest to start with.

So, get that account set up guys and gals.  Follow this link if you’d benefit from a step by step guide to setting up a Twitter account.  You’ll find a few video tutorials on using Twitter underneath the Twitter set-up panels.
