If you don’t already have a Google Account visit the Google creating an account page. It’s all fairly straightforward and should only take you a few minutes to set up.

If you already have a Google account but don’t have a Google+ account then you can follow this step by step tutorial.

Step 1. Starting the process to get Google+ is quite straightforward. Visit Google+ and away you go. screenshot 1 of google+ signup
Step 2. Once you manage to get your Google+ account through the initial setup you’ll be presented with a variety of options including a video to watch to give you an overview. I think the video is a helpful way to grasp what Google circles  are all about; the basic concept of connecting with people on Google+. screenshot of signup page showing video link
Step 3. As with all the other social media channels, there is an early push to get you to share your contacts.  Don’t feel you have to, you can add people later in the process once you’ve had a look around and decided what you’re prepared to share. For example,I have several contacts who expressly don’t want their details on social media at all.So, that aspect is worth considering before you upload the whole of your address book. screenshot of page asking you to add contacts
Step 4. You can choose to follow people or not, it’s entirely up to you.  You could opt for a few to see how the system works.  You can always change your mind later. screenshot of google+ following famous people page
Step 5. Filling in your profile is a good idea.  Fill in as much as you feel comfortable with. You can always do more another time. google+ profile page screenshot

Have a look at the Website Wings Google+ page. Add us to your circles

You need to spend some time, on a regular basis, checking out Google+ and learning a little more each time you go into it. Personally I think it’s a social media platform that incorporates the best of other platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.

The simplicity of it’s ‘circles’, in being able to filter who sees what on your page, is a very simple and effective feature you should find very useful.

Good luck with your new account and why not consider connecting with Website Wings. We’ve got a page set up in addition to a profile (which you’ve just done). Click through and find out what that’s all about. I’ll be doing a tutorial about setting up a business page, soon.
